Bambike is a socio-ecological enterprise based in Intramuros that hand-makes bamboo bicycles with fair-trade labor and sustainable building practices. Our bamboo bike builders (aka Bambuilders) come from Gawad Kalinga, a Philippine based community development organization for the poor, working to bring an end to poverty. We have programs that include scholarships, sponsoring a preschool teacher, and a weekly feeding program for children, as well as a bamboo nursery for reforestation. Bambike is a company that is interested in helping out people and the planet, dedicated to social and environmental stewardship. Our goal is to do better business and to make the greenest bikes on the planet. Bambike Revolution Cycles promotes People-Planet-Progress advocacy for Filipino communties by developing bamboo bikes that are 100% Filipino made, 100% materials from Philippines and 100 % sustainable.
Natural bamboo and abaca materials bond with aircraft-grade alloys to form one-of-a-kind functional works of art. Our bamboo bike frames have been tested for durability, crash worthiness and stiffness. Certified to EN 14766 and EN 14781, they surpass the toughest standards in the industry.
Bambike is proudly partnered with Gawad Kalinga. “Gawad Kalinga,” translated in English means to “give care”; it is a Philippine-based movement that aims to end poverty by first restoring the dignity of the poor. It employs an integrated and holistic approach to empowerment with values-formation and leadership development at its core. Established in 2003, The Foundation currently works with over 2,000 communities and has been recognized as the 2006 Ramon Magsaysay Awardee & 2012 Skoll Awardee for Social Entrepreneurship.
