12 Months of Sustainability: 2024 with Bambike

January

The start of 2024 was an open book for Bambike and Bambike ecotours. We kicked off the year, looking back at the last - showcasing our partnership with the UP School of Archaeology Solheim Library “Heritage on Wheels: Mobile Bamboo Library”. The project was a highlight of the Binalot Talks series of lectures at the university, published in articles of Test Pit, and later part of the Salikiskhay Research, Innovation, Development, and Extention Festival Exhibit. The year began looking back at a fruitful 2023, and paving the way another 12 months of a greener future.

February

Bambike is all about spreading love - for the planet! Our bamboo bikes are more than just a ride; they’re a step toward a greener future. Whether you’re exploring your city or exploring the romantic walled with of Intramuros on a Valentine’s Day date, each pedal stroke is a step towards reducing our carbon footprint

March

Last March, Bambike joined millions around the world for Earth Hour, turning off lights to let the night sky and bike lights take center stage. It was not just about saving energy for an hour - it was about coming together to celebrate sustainability and inspire brighter, greener tomorrows.

April

On April 2024, Bambike Ecotours celebrated 10 years of unique experiences! It’s been an incredible ride, sharing fun, eco-friendly adventures and proving that travel can be both exciting and sustainable. We couldn’t have done it without you—our amazing riders, partners, and everyone who believes in the green revolution. Thank you for being part of this journey. Here’s to many more years of biking for a better planet!

May

This May, Bambike celebrated National Heritage Month by honoring the deep Filipino connection to bamboo—a symbol of resilience, creativity, and sustainability. For centuries, bamboo has been woven into our culture, from traditional homes and tools to music and art. At Bambike, we’re proud to continue this heritage by crafting bicycles that embody these values while promoting a greener future.

June

Last June 12, Bambike celebrated Independence Day by honoring the spirit of Filipino craftsmanship and sustainability. Our bamboo bikes, proudly made by skilled local artisans, symbolize freedom—not just from pollution, but also by empowering communities through eco-friendly livelihoods. We marked the day with a special ride, reflecting on our shared history and the ways we can pedal toward a brighter, greener future together.

July

This month brought devastating storms that left many communities struggling to recover. These events remind us of the urgent need to protect the environment. Green spaces, like forests and mangroves, act as natural barriers, helping to absorb floodwaters and reduce storm impact. Through environmental conservation, we can better protect vulnerable communities. At Bambike, we’re committed to supporting this cause, advocating for sustainability, and working toward a future where we’re more resilient to nature’s challenges. Together, we can make a difference.

August

There are about 60 known species of Bamboo in the Philippines, with countless names across the different languages of the archipelago; each of them distinct as symbols of connection and community between people. This month, we celebrated Buwan ng Wika (Language Month) - Bambike celebrates not only biodiversity, but also the rich cultural diversity across the Philippines.

September

September is most definitely a highlight for us - with the month long observance of Philippine Bamboo Month, and World Bamboo Day on September 18. We have talked about this wonderful plant countless times that it needs little explanation why September is a big month for us!

October

The spooky season was in full swing this year, all thanks to our collaboration with Mystery Manila for Intramuros Investigations! It was a blast solving the mysteries of the “Lost Lady” and the “Possessed Priest” through the misty night time streets of the Historical Walled City. It was quite the month for us, with every slot being sold out. Thank you for being part of this fun experience, and we are excited about what the coming year will bring next!

November

The 4th Sunday of November marks National Bike day. This year we celebrated the occasion with like-minded people at the official event held at Arcovia City. The best part of joining such activities is witnessing the growing community of advocates for active sustainable mobility - a community that seems to grow with every year! The future looks bright, and the future looks green!

December

Looking back at 2024, we hope we have done our part to share the gift of sustainability. From our bamboo bikes, the eco-friendly adventures we’ve hosted, and every interaction we’ve had with our friends and partners in sustainabilty, our efforts and your unwavering support were steps towards a positive impact on the planet. Whether it was celebrating local craftsmanship, supporting green initiatives, or simply encouraging people to ride for a cause, we’ve seen firsthand how small, mindful actions can spark change. It’s been a year of growth, learning, and pushing for a future where sustainability isn’t just a choice—it’s a way of life.

We hope you are having a happy Holiday breather, and we wish you all a Happy New Year! Let us do even better for the planet this coming 2025. We look forward to seeing you soon bambarkada - whether you join us through the unique experiences of Bambike Ecotours, hop on a Bambike of your own, or join the cause for the green revolution through our coming activities!
